No the bottles uses a spe pem membrane method so it will not allow the pH influencing gases through it, just h2

Good question! The carbon can be crushed and disposed with your garden waste or can be added to flower beds (it will improve soil drainage and will slowly biodegrade); the plastic cups can be disposed in the recycling bin.

This particular make, is it suitalbe for drinking water too, also am i right in saying a good plumber would know how to install this and know what extras if any i would need?

We don't recommend drinking the water produced by the system as it contains sodium ions (the system works using ion exchange). Your plumber will either bypass the system and run hard water to a tap in the kitchen for drinking or you can have a reverse osmosis system in the kitchen to filter out the sodium ions from your drinking water.
