No the bottles uses a spe pem membrane method so it will not allow the pH influencing gases through it, just h2

Good question! The carbon can be crushed and disposed with your garden waste or can be added to flower beds (it will improve soil drainage and will slowly biodegrade); the plastic cups can be disposed in the recycling bin.

Water is leaking from the joints when I turn on the filtered water on my Azzura three way tap. Do I need to replace the filter tap cartridge or an 0 ring?

It depends. If the drip is coming from the handle area, it needs a new valve, but if there is a leak from somewhere in the column it will be an O ring
