Hi,
What is the best way to dispose of a used cartridge?
Question by: Robert Chittock on 26 Apr 2020, 14:06
Good question! The carbon can be crushed and disposed with your garden waste or can be added to flower beds (it will improve soil drainage and will slowly biodegrade); the plastic cups can be disposed in the recycling bin.

HOW LONG DOES A SET OF FILTERS LAST FOR TWO PEOPLE?OR HOW MANY LITRES IF THATS EASIER?
Question by: SIMON on 30 Dec 2021, 19:00
We recommend changing the filters every 6 months, irrespective of the number of litres filtered. The contaminant removal capability of the filters has been tested to 500 litres per filter element.

I have heard from my therapist there's a lot if GMO bacteria in our water causing people to be ill. He says uk water is filthy.
I have been using these filters for nearly 6 months now. I think they need to be changed after 6 months. Is that right pls.
I changed to these candles because they filter flouride and many contaminates I really don't want to stop using them.
Can you tell me if you have any idea about your candles whether they can filter out GMOs in our water supply.
Regards
Question by: Susan Hermaitya-Powell on 16 Apr 2022, 18:59
The filters achieve 99% reduction of bacteria and cyst. We recommend changing filters every 6 months.

Lab analysis report shows no evidence for Coldstream CGWF, picture of filters tested seems to equate to RO filters.
Please provide applicable independent test analysis.
Question by: Ruth Bissett on 8 Jun 2022, 18:02
Analysis on listing is for the FTO+ gravity filters, and it is done by Envirotec - independent laboratory. The filters only will perform as per analysis for 500L per filter.
Answer by: Irina Orlenko (Admin) on 8 Jun 2022, 21:40
Yes the pdf has been changed now, however, there is no visible verification of Enviroteck independent testing for the FTO.
Question by: Ruth Bissett on 10 Jun 2022, 00:27
The PDF was updated several years ago, recently we have not updated the product with any information. If you in any doubt regarding published reports you can contact manufacturer directly.

Will these filters fit a proper system
Question by: Paul Gustavson on 20 Jun 2022, 11:38
The filters will fit gravity systems that have upper chamber that is big enough to accommodate a filter that is 8 inches high.
Answer by: Sharon Little (Admin) on 20 Jun 2022, 16:34
We have a propur filter. Those filters look similar but are they similar i. Terms of filtration quality ?
Question by: Laurent on 7 Jul 2022, 11:49
In terms of filtration please see the downloadable test reports on the product page, we recommend changing the filters every 6 months, or 500L per filter, whichever comes first. Each Coldstream Sentry FTO+ filter measures 2.9" x 8", It has a 1/4" BSP threaded connector (which has a diameter of 13.16mm). We would advise checking both the diameter of the filter fitting hole on your system and the depth of the top filter chamber of the system to ensure you have the correct size fitting hole and sufficient depth to accommodate the filters.

My filters turn an almost "sunset yellow" colour quite quickly - within a few weeks of use, and I start to notice condensation build up. Do you have any idea which contaminant in particular would cause this deep yellowy orange colour?
Question by: josephine on 19 Jul 2023, 14:07
It could be a number of things - like colour (tannins), turbidity (suspended solids), limescale (calcium and magnesium carbonate), iron (brown staining) and lots more and likely a combination of all the above and more. The only thing you can do is run them under a running cold tap, and scrub them with a new clean scouring pad and this can be done to the point where the flow rate goes right down or the media inside has absorbed as much as possible.
